My name is Rebekah Higgins and I am a visual artist and a writer. I work without a stylistic signature bringing whatever articulation can be brought to those dreamy spaces, the things humans only half remember and can’t quite express. I am interested in the things that can’t be photographed or easily understood—the things we know are not real, but ARE and the paradox that everything is simultaneously unique and also one thing.
I believe that some forms of language are living things or technologies from other dimensions and I experience those expressions of language as having healing and transformative powers. I have spent much of my lifetime as an explorer of consciousness and mysticism and I elicit the dynamics associated with contemplative and visionary experience through a contemporary lens by embracing creative work as a form of religious practice.
I am also in the process of founding a spiritual order and school The Vesica Piscis Center.
More if you want it:
Right now I am completely focused on my fine arts practice and building a new body of work, writing a book and laying the ground work for a spiritual order for those dedicated to a life of creative practice in communion with spirit—and those who support us. I sometimes combine simple altars structures with vessels and paintings to create meditative stations and in the past I have individualized them for people. I am now turning away requests for custom work and commissions and probably will continue to do so for a while as I focus on making works for the center. Thanks you for your understanding. I am making some existing works available for sale in order to fund the center. They will be rotated in my shop area on this page. New works shown on this page usually sell within 2 weeks. I am completely absorbed in making work right now and am paying little mind to selling it—and yet it is selling more. Funny how that works. If you are interested in something contact me as I am living as contemplative a life as I am able and do not actively market myself. My work, like any artists’ work will only resonate or appeal to those for whom it does, it is not for everyone and is not meant to be. I have learned not to change what I do to be more populist and the collectors who sense the metaphysical in my works mostly find me by word or mouth.
I have explored many interests and disciplines and have worked a few different gigs in my time on this planet so far, including:
- a professor of art and design
- a mythologist
- a consultant
- following an eclectic spiritual calling including a shamanic medicine path
- a traveler and entrepreneur

…and dogs - a manager of a drive-in movie theater
- a house painter
- a house cleaner
- a fry cook…
